The study investigated the application of theoretical knowledge in practical library work among industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) students in Bayero University Library and Yususf Maitama Sule University Library, Kano. The objective were to: (i) investigate the SIWES students familiarity with Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in librarianship, (ii) to assess the level of applicability of theoretical knowledge in library work and effectiveness of EBP in library services by the SIWES students, (iii) assess the level of preparation and confidence of SIWES students for applying theoretical knowledge and skills in library work sections, and (iv) find out the problems the SIWES students faced during internships, among others. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. Population of the study comprises the 180 SIWES students enrolled in the universities studied. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select the sample size of 150 SIWES students. Questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Findings revealed that 93.9% of students found their theoretical knowledge applicable to practical tasks, among other findings. The study concluded that while theoretical knowledge was relevant, practical application remained constrained by various institutional and training-related factors. The study recommended that practical training opportunities, mentorship programs, access to modern library technologies, and better integrating practical components into academic curricula should be enhanced and expanded ensured and improved.
