In today’s digital era, the emergence of Big Data Technology and Artificial intelligence have revolutionized various sectors of the economy including education. This study examines the role of Big Data technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the provision of information resources for the enhancement of quality education in Nigeria. Educational institutions in Nigeria lack robust data collection and analysis mechanisms to inform decision making processes and shortage of lecturers in Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and inadequate technology infrastructure are major challenges in Nigerian education sector. The role of Big Data technology and AI in enhancing library information services such as automated cataloging, improved search algorithms and digital libraries are important in enhancing and leveraging quality education. AI- driven tools such as intelligent tutoring systems, chatbots and adaptive learning platforms can provide support for students thereby improving learning outcome. Big Data technology is a massive collection of data that continues to increase per seconds with a complicated structure subject to processing for meaningful deduction and Artificial intelligence on the other hand is an intelligent machine designed to perceive, analyses and react like human beings capable of simulating human intelligence. This paper discusses strategies for exploring the capabilities of Big Data technology and Artificial Intelligence for quality education in Nigeria.
